Is your company in the market to hire a data scientist? Data scientists are employed by a wide variety of companies, from social networking firms to businesses involved in healthcare research and big-box stores. Data scientists mine purchasing data and analyze it for specific interests and then work with marketing departments to capitalize on that knowledge. Data scientists must be familiar with data-gathering software, programming and warehousing techniques. But they don’t just sit in front of a computer all day. Often, data scientists will be called into marketing strategy sessions or IT meetings, depending on the specific job.
