Corporate Computer Naming Policy

A lax or non-existent corporate computer naming convention could make things more difficult when it comes to defining logical groups of computers and consistently targeting individual systems.

This policy from TechRepublic Premium is designed to ensure every employee, contractor, temporary worker and volunteer understands and agrees to abide by specific guidelines for naming computers operating on the company’s network.

From the policy:

ACCEPTABLE USE

All names attributed to computers connected to the company’s network must comply with the current standard and use only previously defined informational components.

Should new needs arise and modifications or additions to the naming convention be required, a support analyst on your team should contact the organization’s information technology department for further instructions.
